Monica Lightner

Monica Lightner is an Assistant Teacher in the Blue Classroom. Monica holds a bachelor’s degree in history and has completed her Montessori teaching credential at the Early Childhood level through Seton Montessori Institute. For eight years, Monica has worked at a nonprofit afterschool and summer program serving low-income and at-risk youth ranging in age from incoming kindergarten through eighth grade. She started as a volunteer and spent her last three years as the Director of Program and Volunteers. Monica loves witnessing the capabilities of young children and their “light bulb” moments! When not at work, she loves reading and enjoying the outdoors, particularly camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Fun fact: Monica spent her first two spring breaks in college visiting archeological sites in Mexico.
