Description: We are currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year for Assistant teachers to join our Seton Montessori School community in the beautiful area of Clarendon Hills, IL! The Assistant will support Montessori classrooms.

Seton Montessori School (SMS) is in Clarendon Hills, Illinois. We offer school year and summer camp programs for children from birth through Elementary age. Located on a scenic four-acre campus, nestled amid a residential setting, Seton’s facilities offer children the finest in indoor and outdoor environments for learning and growing.

Our experienced and dedicated staff helps the child develop an awareness of themselves and the world around them. The child works and learns in an atmosphere of balanced independence and structure within a mixed-age group setting. SMS partners Seton Montessori Institute, one of the largest Montessori teacher education programs in North America. As a result, our staff practices the most current and progressive teaching methods in an authentic Montessori classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in the classroom designated by the school Administrator under the direction of the teacher

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all the children

  • Interacting positively in a friendly, calm, and nurturing manner with the children

  • Encouraging and modeling social behavior and expectations appropriate to the age group

  • Assisting the teacher in evaluating each child’s progress

  • Attending two professional development opportunities each year

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to work with children and make a difference

  • Commitment to learning about Montessori philosophy and education

  • Commitment to continued professional development

  • Ability to collaborate with a dynamic teaching team

  • Physical dexterity and ability to lift children up to 40 pounds

  • High School Diploma or high school equivalence certificate

  • Completion of DCFS requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree

  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience working with children
