For 45 years, CCS has been a proud member of the Mount Horeb community, offering child-centered education and quality childcare. Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, experienced Preschool Director to lead our school in providing exceptional Montessori education. The Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to implement school policies, manage staff, and ensure the school’s continued growth and success. The Director is a member of the Board, serving on the Executive Committee and providing input to various committees as needed. This leadership role requires an individual who understands Montessori education and is dedicated to supporting the development of both children and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership

Inspire confidence and respect from staff, parents, and community leaders.

Keep staff motivated and aligned with CCS’s mission.

Manage high-priority tasks and continually seek improvement opportunities.

Maintain calm and perspective during stressful situations, with a crisis management plan in place.

Ensure the Montessori philosophy is effectively reflected throughout the school environment.

Be physically present at CCS, maintaining accessibility to parents and staff.

Planning and Evaluation

Actively participate in setting and revising CCS goals.

Keep CCS on track to achieve its mission.

Oversee evaluation systems and use results to implement Board policies.

Stay informed on trends affecting the future of CCS.

Staff Supervision

Set clear expectations and keep staff informed about policies and program updates.

Provide frequent feedback through evaluations and one-on-one meetings.

Resolve staff conflicts and encourage open communication.

Recruit, hire, and orient new staff, substitute teachers, student teachers, and volunteers.

Delegate tasks effectively and assist classroom teachers as needed.

Staff Development

Organize in-service training programs and provide staff with professional growth opportunities.

Ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation continuing education requirements.

Support staff development through regular conferences and mentorship.

Curriculum & Programming Development

Ensure curriculum aligns with Montessori principles and promotes child independence.

Support teachers in developing appropriate curriculum and using positive behavior management strategies.

Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum and school environment.

Administrative Systems

Ensure the school’s facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Manage classroom and playground equipment, ensuring safety and compliance.

Oversee systems to track vital information on staff, children, finances, and more.

Prepare and submit required reports on time.

Work with the Business Manager to maintain CCS’s budget and financial policies.

Parent Relations

Build strong relationships with parents and encourage their participation in school life.

Communicate CCS policies and procedures to parents effectively.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure a welcoming environment for all families.

Public Identity

Represent CCS positively in the community and maintain strong enrollment.

Promote CCS through tours, marketing materials, and word-of-mouth.

Collaborate with local schools and preschool directors to enhance 4K programs.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Minimum age of 21.

Bachelor's degree.

At least 2 years of experience as a child care teacher or center director in a licensed setting.

Completed pre-service training and additional required training (or certification at Registry Level 14 or above, if applicable).

In-depth knowledge of Montessori education and child development.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the Board of Directors.
