Job Title: Infant & Toddler Lead Teacher

Description: Montessori Children’s House of N. Barrington is actively seeking an experienced Infant and Toddler Lead Teacher to join our community beginning in June, 2026.

The position is a full-time, year-round opportunity to work with children, an amazing team, and to receive great benefits at our AMS Accredited Montessori School.

We offer school year and summer camp programs for children from birth through 6 years of age. Located on a scenic 3-acre campus, nestled amid a residential setting, Montessori Children’s House’s facilities offer children developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor environments for learning and growing.

Our experienced and dedicated staff helps the child develop an awareness of themselves and the world around them. The child works and learns in an atmosphere of balanced independence and structure within a mixed-age group setting.

Montessori Children’s House of N. Barrington serves as a Lab School for Seton Montessori Institute, one of the largest and longest-standing AMS Montessori teacher education programs in North America. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create and support a welcoming and inclusive culture

  • Safeguard academic integrity of classroom in keeping with the Montessori pedagogy and AMS accreditation standards

  • Responsible for the execution of the educational and administrative school policies

  • Ensure a complete, beautiful, and age-appropriate Montessori learning environment

  • Embody the scientific pedagogy through regular observation, record keeping, reflection, and appropriate action for response to meet the needs of children in the class

  • Partner with parents/guardians regularly to support their children’s progress

  • Monitor the general safety of children

  • Collaborate actively with colleagues

  • Direct and develop assistants and student teachers

  • Support the work of Seton Montessori Institute as a supervising teacher, and potentially as a field visitor, teaching assistant, and/or faculty presenter

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Physical dexterity and ability to lift children up to 40 pounds

  • Hold or be actively working toward a bachelor's degree in any subject

  • Hold an AMS or AMI Infant and Toddler Montessori Credential

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a Montessori classroom

  • Completions of Illinois DCFS requirements and background check

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

• Montessori Infant and Toddler certification from an AMS or AMI Teacher Education program required

• Bachelor’s Degree in any subject

• Five or more years of experience working with children in Montessori classrooms
